Why Do We Pick On Others? Rules of the Pack...

People tend to pick on others because any group of people have got own rights, we like to classify others according to 'rules' - whether these are our own rules, or group's rules. People like judging and giving general opinions - this is how we all 'work'. Every group of people has got the leader of the pack, who decides what, how and when all is done. As long as the leader is strongest in the pack (mentally not physically) everyone else will follow his rules. Even most random rules will be obeyed unless someone in the pack will rebel and say 'stop'. This is how the group works, whether it's school, work, bunch of friends, family etc. People in the group will tend to have specific 'roles' to determine how all will interact with each other. Every group also holds a place for 'black sheep' - someone slightly different from the rest, who might be different just by the way they dress, music they like, type of hobbies they got - you name it. It doesn't have to be anything big, but it's big enough to clasify as 'different'.

Few Things To Remember When Applying Eye Liner

There are few types of eye liner you can choose from when doing Scene make up, and it's good to choose the one you feel most confident with.

  • There is actually a brush they make for liner - it comes with bare minerals liner.
  • There is pencil and liquid eyeliner. You have to wear mascara though so the liner will make sense on you and stand out.
  • I use the brush to make it look dark and to match my emo look. I use liquid when i don't have time for the brush and the pencil is often a waste of time because creating a line takes forreverrrr!
  • Using the brush is easy, but messy because of the liner powder gets everywhere and gets all over your clothes, so it takes time and steady hand to work with.
  • Now the technique I discovered and find it quite helpful when doing wings with eye liner, DON'T START WITH YOUR TOP LID! I just flick it out at the end of the bottom lid line. So do your top lid first, and then when you're almost done with the bottom flick it out and slightly up. Then continue the line from the top. I think this is so much easier!

How To Become Scene Gradually?

How To Become Scene Gradually?

Becoming Scene is not an over-night process, and it can take 2 - 3 years to finally find your own style, clothes you feel comfortable in, perfect Scene hair, accessories etc. It takes time, and it's always better to achieve the look by the way of small steps - you don't want to suddenly change the way you dress and people you hang out with - that's nearly guaranteed way to be called a poser...

  1. Start with accessories - hair accessories (bows, head bands, clip ons etc) and neon jewelry - if you're not convinced by jumbo jewellery at this stage, go for Lightning Bolt Necklace - it's slim, delicate and it goes with nearly every outfit
  2. Now the hair - it's very important with the Scene look to have big statement hairstyle - go for side swept bangs, choppy top layers, and longer bottom layers. For tips how to style, tease and take care of your Scene Hair - see here.
  3. Clothing - that's once again slow process on your way to becoming Scene - you can start with Skinny Jeans. Do we need to convince anyone Skinnies are as Scene as it gets? From classic Black to plain Red, Neon Green or Royal Blue. Or go for all time favorite Black and White Zebra Skinny Jeans - you cannot go wrong with pair of these gems in your new Scene wardrobe!
  4. T-shirts - the more Neon, Hot Pink, bold designs the better! So totally hawt right now are NewBreed Girl Tees - it's clash of the Titans! From 3D Dino to Bored Hippo - it's like having your own personal monster - life doesn't get any better then this...
  5. Hoodies are always in - from Striped Kitty Ears to Pink Leopard or White Zebra Jackets - they look awesome with Skinnies, neon T-shirts, jewelry, and of course your new totally hawt Scene Look!

How To Apply Liquid Eye Liner?

Perfect Scene Make Up

Liquid eye liner is easy to apply once you know what you are doing, it doesn't smudge as much as the pencil (when let to dry) - I prefer Maybelline Stiletto - it's quick to dry and easy to get off)
That being said i personally like to put the eye liner on the bottom of my eyes first mainly because it is an easier to access than the top.

  • Take the eyeliner and trace the line of your eye, like everyone else says, but what is extra important is that when you are tracing your eye, think of the angle - if you make it a straight line, even though your eye isn't straight your top line will have to come down to meet it, which will give you an almost sad look.
  • If you trace your eye perfectly (not necessary and so typical) it will bring you to meet the upper eyeline in the middle. It is good to experiment with many angles to get a desired look
  • Before putting on the top layer of eyeliner, it is good to put on
your eye shadow first, (unless you want a smokey blended look) - apply your choice of eye shadow, then put on your eyeliner on the top of your eyes, it seems to pop more and doesn't get covered by the dust of eyeshadow
  • For mascara I love to use the little curling things (i have no clue
what they're called its a little metal contraption that you squeeze your
eyelashes with) if you have ever been afraid to use one, they are simpler than they look. I like to hold for at least ten seconds pretty tight.
  • Once that's done apply the mascara (eyelash lengthener is optional) to both top and bottom lashes - it emphasizes the eye
  • Then just apply basic foundation, powder is better than a liquid cover which can be messy and look overdone. Pick foundation as close to your skin tone as possible. It is used to even out skin tone not change it completely
  • Add some lipstick or whatever you feel necessary. The best make up tip I've ever known is experiment experiment experiment

23/01: 'I find that if i use a soft eyeliner that it helps to have your eyes clean like some people said but to also make sure that ur mascara is off. when u have mascara on it slightly blocks you from getting all the eyeliner on right.. now..

My moms a famouse make up artist and she has done a lot of stars makeup and her tips are..

- if your hair is dark then its gonna make you look paler than you already are so you need to darken up the skin tone a bit..

- use bare minerals with a shade darker in foundation and make sure that it's spread out evenly.

- your eyes are more attractive and look younger if there's not a lot on of eyeliner but at times you should go a little wild and crazyy with it. if you feel that its to wild then take a q-tip and some eye make up remover and slightly rub the top and un thicken it as much as you can!! and more questions email me at  - Saige :P'prettylies2009@gmail.com

17/01: 'The best eyeliner (not liquid) in my opinion is Maybelline New York unstoppable eyeliner and I always get the onyx or black but sometimes the black is hard 2 find ;33 and I like it cuz it doesn't smudge at all and it's waterproof cuz I'm very emotiionallz and cry a lot :/ anyways, I always start at tha bottom water line the go to the bottom lash line and at tha top get as close as u can to tha lashez and then if u mess up put some eyeshadow over it and re-aplly :33' - XXxx8DSmileZbbayxxXX

Tip Of The Week: Do I Need Piercing To Be Scene?

Do I Need Piercing To Be Scene?

Being Scene is often associated with getting piercing, although there is loads of Scene Kids who don't have any piercing at all. Is it neccessity? We think not. If you however seriously think of getting piercing, at least consider these few things:

Where are you planning on (self) piercing?
Earlobe? You might be ok. Ear cartilage? Not a good idea. Nose? Even less of a good idea. Lip? Worse idea. Eyebrow? Don't even go there. Nipple? Are you insane? Anything below the waist? Sterilize yourself now to prevent the stupidity from spreading.

1) Why do you want to pierce yourself?

-Did your parents say no to you getting that piercing?
-Are you being pressured by someone to get a certain piercing to 'fit in'?
-Do you think it'll just be a good laugh?
-Is it for some form of self injury?
-Just to piss your parents off?

If it's any of these or reasons similar, don't do it. It might be fun now, but you are doing permanent hole in your body, not to mention all possible complications and infections.

Read more advice and opinion on piercing...

Comments:

25/01: 'lip piercings would definately not be something you do to fit in. The only people who do get piercings at my school are the people who are serious and like the way it looks. There are plenty of other ways to fit in and the people who do get piercings stand out, which is also an intention with piercings. They might not leave a permanent scar, and if they do it will be very tiny. You have a better chance at a picked pimple leaving a bigger scar.' - Smiles :)

24/01: 'Piercings aren't that bad tbh, But you should think before getting them, and don't do it for stupid reasons like to piss parents off or because your friends tell you to, You want a piercing then go for it, It does leave scars but not the huge raving ugly ones like you're led to believe and things only become complicated and scar bad if you don't look after it during the healing period.

Trust me i know i've had plenty of body and facial piercings, like M.F said don't worry too much - peircings aren't tattoos. You're not stuck with them forever if you don't like them simply take them out (:
But Think before you do, They dont all hurt but some kill to have done.'

23/01: 'I pierced my ear lobe twice, got them at the wrong angle - so now they're odd. plus one has an infection - probably best getting it done my professionals - ALSO IT KILLS! :L' - Holly

18/01: 'you can pierce your own ear... my friend has doubled mine and pierced the cartilage twice... you just have to be completly 100% sanitary...and clean your ears twice a day with hot water and soap, and then go over that with hydrogen peroxide every day for a month to 6 weeks.' - leahhleaah

16/01: 'I agree with Maya. Piercings aren't the end of the world. I have my ear lobes, three ear cartilidges, my nose and my lip pierced. However, I have also been moved out of my parents house for almost three years. My job is in a National Institute and I had to be prepared to take any of my piercings out if my employer found them to be offensive. (I didn't end up having to take any out). Also, when I apply to medical school I will have to remove all facial piercings. However, unlike tattoos, they do heal, with minimal damage and rather quickly.

So make sure you're getting the piercings for the right reasons, avoid getting piercings out of rebellion towards your parents and take good care of them. :) If you're dead set on getting a piercing despite your parents saying no, at least get something in your ear that won't give them a complete heartattack. It shows at least a small amount of respect for their wishes!

All in all though, piercings are great!

Cheers.' - Kirsten Kukula

13/01: 'Is this website written by parents? Its really shockingly bad and really patronising. Seriously girls, wear what you loke, not just because its 'scene' and you want to look like everyone else. That used to be the whole point in being alternative!!' - No Thanks!

12/01: 'Cartilage Piercings KILL. And all piercings leave a scar once they heal. Do you want to be a senior with an ugly scar on your nose/lips? No. I don't think so. Personally, I think lip piercings are really, really ugly. I like ear piercings, even cartilage ones, but really. Lips? Nose? Yick. Anyway. That's all I'm saying.' - Brianna Mareek

10/01: 'ok. i totally agree that you should think about what you want from your piercing a lot before you get it and maybe i shouldn't even say anything since i don't have any piercings besides my ears but i have a lot of friends that get various piercings all the time, one even got a medusa and she just took it out after a few months, no complications. and she may
still have the hole from that but you can't see it. And her lip piercings
completely healed up after having them for like 5 months then taking them
out.

This article makes piercings sound wayyy more scary then they actually are. i'm getting my tounge pierced, angel bites and possibly my eyebrow in a while and as long as you

  • get it done at a piercing place (DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF/HAVE A FRIEND DO IT, NEVER TURNS OUT GOOD, I WOULD KNOW)
  • know that a piercing is truely what YOU want and not because you
want to 'fit in', your not doing it just to piss of your parents or
anybody else, and most importantly, it's not for self injury of course.
  • do exactly what the person who pierced it told you to for the after care so it won't get infected.
  • like i said before, don't get it done because your parents don't want you to, and if you know that it's what YOU want then get it done.

If your parents don't like it tell them that you respect that and once it is healed you will take it out if it's not the appropriate place to have it in/ they ask you to take it out for a while... Parents never like to see their kids grow up and make decisions for themselves without anything they can do about it so respect what they say, take it out for school/family gatherings/job interviews/work/anywhere that they may not want their kid to be seen with a piercing.

But this doesn't mean take it out every time your hanging out with your friends at the mall and you see your mom's best friend walking by.
Overall, what i'm saying is DON'T BE THREATENED BY PIERCINGS. theyaren't tattoos. :)

How To Look Scene With Fuller Figure?

Skinny Jeans are as Scene as it gets, but girls with fuller figures might find them not so flattering. How to work the whole Scene look without sticking to Skinny Jeans that don't really flatter your figure? We've got small tip - don't give up if this is what you want to be, first thing is:

  • try looking for custom skinnys that match your waist and length. They will flatter you much better, or try some straight leg jeans though they are harder to find in brighter colors.
  • And to avoid looking heavy try not to wear anything really really tight or low cut, go for what looks good on your body type and you can always buy bigger clothes and alter them to your body.
  • as for your hair try getting shorter layers at about the nape of your neck and ear length-this will help when you tease and hairspray it.
  • if your hair falls flat during a day, easiest thing is to carry a teasing comb and mini bottle of hairspray with you and touch it up when you can.
  • my main advice is DON'T GIVE UP! just keep trying until you get it right. =)

Can I Be Scene If My Parents Won't Let Me Dye My Hair?

Scene Girl with Natural Hair

Parents can be pretty strict when it comes to dying your hair, and school rules are often against it too. But can one be scene without completely changing hair color? In my opinion Scene Hair is more up to great haircut and some cute accessories more then crazy hair colors. There's bunch of super cute Scene Girls with natural hair - it's better to find your own style and work around what you already got.

If you really insist on changing hair color, start with small changes first:

  • Try going for some color streaks in your bangs - some pink or blue highlights?
  • You can look scene with natural hair but if you decide to dye your hair, try not to go for darker colours then your natural hair, as this will ruin it.
  • Maybe just ask to have it dyed underneath, descreetly but seeable
  • Try going for a more daring dye
  • Maybe ask for it to go under your side fringe, if you have one ^-^ lol-x

I bet u will pass as scene. Your friends will look boring compared to you, you'll be a style queen :p Xx'

Why People Pick On Others For How They Look and Dress?

why to pick on others for how they look?

Hi, i would like to know, why do people pick on others for being so called "scene"? I got picked on at first then I actually stayed home for ages. Then I got popular on bebo. And now well everyone says I'm pretty, my pictures are amazing. I look like a model ect.

And you know what some girls moan about they wana be thinner cause apparently that's scene to be thin... err no it's not. I'm thin im size 12 but im tallish i got flat stomac ect i durno if your americans or w.e but your mad to think being ultra thin is scene i just dont understand why people fuss so much:/

Give it time ur learn new things and some advise - don't backbrush your hair so it looks like a birdsnest. And don't use stupid false colourd extecions most of them look so fake and tacky.

Most famous scene kids dont dress in bright stuff anyway its more indie style thats "scene" now so no affence ;]

12/01: 'everyone calls me an emo, i dyed my hair black yesterday, but they called me emo for a year or so anyway, its just coz my mates are emo, im scene and coz i just so happen to wear a hoodie, even in the cold they judge me, and everyone spreads stuff that they see me sliting my wrists which is COMPLETE nonsense, but. Scenes wear what they like and i would say the only thing about that makes like emos is the fact that we are unique and different ! x' - Maddi x

05/01: 'heyhey:), I get called emo constantly at school, even by my close 'friends'. What I do is I just call them *shudder* chavs and that shuts them right up. I have really dark brown hair (natural) with loads of bluee, and just coz i wear my hood up, and wear neon, i get called emo. They just call us it because they're too stupid to know what scene is. They even critisize my hair saying 'ooo theres waaaay too much spray in it, it's too biiig' and ur just like well fuck off then. I have also been called a goth because of my make-up :@:@. i just ignore it, and carry on, if they can't accept me for who i am then i really don't care what they think
' - Amy XD

31/12: 'This one kid keeps asking me if I cut myself because I always wear my hoddie and u rarely c my arms and this one girl - she is a stuck up snob - all of the sudden she starts dressing like me and apparently I made a bigger deal out of it than it really was so she goes around the school and says if you see faith wearin the same clothes as me tell her that I wear them better than her. Would she be considered a poser or just a wannabe??? (and it really tickes me off) (and we aren't close cuzs)' - XDFayKayXD

26/12: 'I have scene hair and I wear skinny jeans and whatever but everyone mistakes me as "Emo" and it's really annoying. Anyways, back on task.. I'm actually a size 11 and I have a flat belly but I think my thighs are big.LOL. Skinny jeans don't help. I live on a military base and I'm not aloud to dye my hair but I'm aloud to wear make up: D I am the only person at my school with scene hair and I think it's really cool and I stand out, off to try these eyelinerr tips,, deuces and thx btw(: byeee' - Julia A

22/12: 'omg you're soo right it soo cool to be scene i'm such a scene queen. i use like 5 bottles of hairspray on my hair for one night of raving and moshing to bmth and i love the guys that look anorexic because of their pants especially when their ass is hanging out.
All you people say "Don't label me." yet you kids label yourselves as a fake label or "scene". Stop whining about something you put on yourself or actually be a unique indiviual.
You are not different when you dress like people you see on MySpace or Bebo. The ghetto kids are more unique than you people. And go ahead say your shit about how I'm wrong. I am right.' - the scenest person ever

22/12: 'i think scene is beautiful. i hate when people fucking judge you it's not like we are harming them in any way except by looking wayyyy better hahahah.' - Monica Perry

Can I be Scene if I'm 11?

Young Scene Girl

There's more and more 11 or 12 year old girls, who want to look Scene, but cannot really afford the look, dye hair or wear make up at school. We've got few tips submitted by our readers how to work the Scene Queen look and not break the budget / parents rules:

  • I always wanted to have blonde hair, and really love the baby doll Scene look. All girls with natural blonde hair should be really thankfull for it - my hair is bleached and it's gross... At least they don't have to deal with regrowth and yellow tones.
  • What about teasing - normal comb will not work very well, you need a proper teasing comb, you can probably get it at you local supermarket.
  • As for the bangs, just have them however it suits you best, there is
nothing worse then having a haircut that looks crap on you.
  • How to convince you parents to dye you hair? Well, at 11 there is
probably no way in the world they will let you - my  parents wouldn't let me either but i went out and did it (came home with bright pink hair)
  • No offence but maybe you should just wait untill your older, you can do so much more fun stuff, at 11 you're still a kid and can get away with it so go crazy! I would kill to be 11 again and no offence but you probably don't have the right life experience to be scene because you won't have the right attitude.
  • Anyway, if you turn scene now everyone will label you as a wannabe.
    just wait till you're older

Tip of The Week: How To Keep Your Hair Healthy When Styling?

Great Styled Straight Emo Hair

You love to keep your hair styled, straightened or curled? But you want the best results, greatest look, and really want to keep them in good condition and looking healthy? There's bunch of products to protect your hair from damaging efect of straightenning / curling irons. The products are getting better and better, and the range is expanding too. So here we gathered few products, that are tested (yes, they really do work the trick) and they can protect your hair from the heat:

  • Shampoo: it's the base, and first product you put on your hair to prepare them for styling: if you straighten your hair, try to get shampoo that will accentuate the straight efect, eg. Toni&Guy Straight and Protect Shampoo. It's bit pricey, but it's really good product, and is preparing your hair against heat styling. If you like your hair curly, get shampoo that will work best on curled hair.
  • Conditioner - not too heavy, or it will flatten your hair too much, and leave it looking strand-ish
  • Heat Defence Spray - spray it lightly all over your hair (and ends) - try Charles Worthington Heat Defence Spray
  • Just before blow drying, spray your hair additonally with L'Oreal Go Creative Fixing Spritz. It's an ultra strong hold, which you can use both on wet hair as a base for styling, as well as on dry hair as hairspray.
  • After blow-drying / straightenning, take small amount of Garnier Fructis Surf Hair Texturning Wax, and use it on the ends, or go with fingers through your hair. Secret is to use really tiny amount of wax, maybe pea-size, otherwise your hair will go flat :/

Tip Of The Week: How To Cut and Style Side Swept Bangs?

How To Cut and Style Side Swept Bangs?

Scene Hair wouldn't be the same without beatifully created side swept bangs. It requires lot of practice to get desired shape of your bangs, here we've got few tips to help you create your perfect fringe:

  • First - how to cut your side swept bangs: part your hair to one side, and on the side with the most hair, pick out a front section. Cut it in a downsloping angle. You can do it yourself, but if you are nervous, get it done at a salon, and trim them yourself from then on.
  • Now styling: Avoid the hairdryer! The simplest way to add shape to your side bangs is to let hair air-dry. If you regularly air-dry, simply take extra few seconds after brushing and use a comb to define your part.
  • Comb all your bangs to desired side and arrange across your forehead. They will stay because your hair is wet. If your bangs are longer, you can add bobby-pin to hold them in place while you finish getting ready.
  • When your hair dries, just shake loose and spritz with a bit of hairspray.
  • Flip your head upside down to add volume if you must blow-dry. Spritz your hair with a heat protectant. Dry with one hand and use the other hand to pull your bangs to the desired side. You can also dry standing straight up, using a round brush to brush your bangs to the side as you dry.
  • Try the tricks: after your bangs are sufficiently dry, finger-style your bangs, then take a comb and spray with a light coating of hairspray. Use the comb to mold your bangs into place. Another option is to spray your fingers with the hairspray, then use them to sculpt your fringe. Top either off with an extra spritz head-on.

How To Pass as Scene Girl if You're Dark Skinned?

Stunning African Scene Girl

Are you Black Girl and love Screamo, Rock and/or any alternative music but you don't really got the looks? Do you like to go to concerts where there's always bunch of insanely pale Scene Girls that look absolutely stunning? You can find your way around it and look super cute as Scene Girl with few of these handful tips:

  • Hair: If you want your hair to be as manageable as possible, you should invest in a 'kiddie' perm. The perm will straighten your hair.
  • Afterwards, take a rattail comb, (try not to use a brush unless you're most comfortable with that), and comb the front of your hair (from your crown) so it falls into your face or to the side, so it looks like a side bang (if you dont have one). Make sure you've got a good amount of hair (not too much so you don't have any hair in the back and not to little so when you go outside it flows everywhere in the wind). Now, put a clip in it to hold it (and make you look super kawaii [a.k.a cute]).
  • Another cute scene style that is acceptable around your friends/family is putting your hair into a low ponytail, and letting your bang [of course] and random chunks of hair fall down where your sideburns should be.
  • If you want front bangs do the same thing but instead of moving your hair to the side, just brush it down your face and find a length that you like and snip snip. Also add a hairclip or headband of your liking. Make sure your hair is dry when you cut it, or your bangs may end up really short!
  • Makeup: Simple. Just wear some eyeliner (preferably black), mascara (optional), and some foundation. You should do brighter and bolder eyeshadows - the best ones would be grey or neon colored. A sheer white, and things of that nature, would just look odd. Remember it all depends on your skin tone. Read our full article to find out more tips how to apply Scene Make Up If You're Dark Skinned.
  • Clothes/Accessories: Skinny Jeans are a must. Also if you have any graphic tees [tee shirts with words or pictures on them] wear them!. Some major scene characters to wear on your shirt are Hello Kitty, Gloomy Bear, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and basically any wacky looking things. If you don't feel like wearing skinny jeans and you want to wear leggings, do not wear tutus. If you want to wear pantyhose, they must be designed and you have to wear an oversized tee. For shoes, wear converse, vans, or flats. Nike dunks are also becoming popular. Boots are becoming popular in scene style also. A long pearl necklace wrapped around two or three times if you feel for it. Bracelets and rings are also cute.
  • Start slowly with clothes and makeup. First off, you will be called a poser. Don't start too quickly because (especially) if you have parents from another country, they'll be all "WTF?" and start complaining about your new look. Remember: Start slow.

Where To Get Quality Clip-In Hair Extensions?

Katie Babyfayce with hair extensions

You love your hair to be big and look good all day long? It's always a challenge, specially if your natural hair always find their own different ways... Slightly annoying, but there's way to help it. Clip-in hair extensions are becoming more and more popular, and you can get them nearly everywhere. The most recommended ones are made by Sally's Beauty Supplies, the best (cheapest) way is to get ones without clips, and then simply sew the clips yourself. Make sure they are real hair, it's more natural, and they will blend in with your real hair, so noone will see the difference! You can also straighten, curl them and do whatever you wish to look fantabulous!

Got great tip of your own how to clip / style / take care of hair extensions? Share it here and read what others had to say!

04/01: 'I got mine at sally's and i got mine without the clips but just sewed the clips on my hais blonde so i got black if i ever wants some in my hair =]' - Payton

02/01: 'I got my hair extensions from www.additionallengths.com and they are brilliant, cheap, real hair, and you can dye them. They're really great, and all you have to do is treat them like your normal hair. However, if you straighten them too much they get split ends and so forth so they need trimming like normal hair. Instructions come in the packet. If you have thick hair you might need two pairs, but I never really had that problem.' - Georgie Rose

As Crunk Core As It Gets?

Crunk Core Set of Neon Skinnies and Printed Hoodies

So what do you think of this fresh new trend - Crunk Core? I'm sure you've seen these Crunk Kids - they insist it's a brand new trend, although in my opinion it's been there since all Scene trend started, and evolved from there...

I talk neon color clothes, printed Hoodies, foil print Tees, Jumbo Diamond Jewelry and shutter shades. I talk BrokeNCYDE. Shutter shades, let's face it, are bit on a rotten side now, as they were popular for a very short time, and quickly the bubble burst, once you could get them for free as promo items. But Neon Color Clothes, clashing prints, designs and firing combinations? Yes, please...

So what do you make of the whole Crunk Core - new trend set to stay or something to forget? Leave a comment!

10/01: 'well I think that like we can't judge them if that's what they like let them wear it  you can't call someone a poser for dressing how they love to and can express themselves in but u can if they're a scene hater wanna be ;P who were jerks about scene and not wanna be cool also it's not cool braning  them like that  and even if they are really poser scene hating lameRz  who gives a care they'll never be able to pull it off as Beast as us  let the posers pose  but honestly  what can we do about those mindless trend eating zombie followers as long as you know ur not one of them who gives a care they'll soon get bored and go prep again' - ~KiDxKaPoWwiE

07/01: 'uhmm ... i think u guys need ta be urselves , n this site is really stereotypical . i like the clothess but like ya gottta call 'em scene tshirts or scene jewwelry n emo gloves . so whatt ? i wear hollister t-shirts but tease my hairr n wear skinny jeans n flipflops , who caes ? hop off my case betchh . -_-' - marisaxmadness

26/12: 'BLECH! i understand that you need to express yourself...and they have a right to dress that way, but WHY! it is nothing but hiphop clothes! yes 30h!3 is a crunk core band i guess, but they make it look fashionable at least, im not one for sterotypes but we have to give it something a name, it looks just like Scene but for stupid men... but if they wanna look like cheap posers that's their problem, i hope this one dies out though' - ChibiCupCakeOfDoom

24/12: 'Well if it continues it'll just evolve more and become less scene anyway, why not let it?' - Ashii

22/12: 'Ok so there is nothing wrong with crunk core. So what if it came out of the scene style. Every trend is just a spin off of a previous trend, what makes this one anymore different? If anything people of the scene style should be proud to have influenced these ppl and this new look. This new look is complementing you guys not insulting you. Some of you guys sound like the same ppl that were judging you when u came out with the scene style.... The same closed-minded ppl.' - Brittany Barbie

22/12: 'oh deary me. i'm Crunk Core? This is exactly how i dress! i've been wearing bright colors and big bows since 4th grade. now it's sad that there's a stereotype for everything now.

i like the idea of Japanese street fashion, and that's kind of what it is. You have to remember, this was what was worn in the 80s and what is worn as Harajuku fashion in Japan. Maybe we're just stereotyping what's already been there? Who knows. All i know is that i learned something new today. I guess I'm classified
as Crunk Core..' - Glitter X Guts

20/12: 'I think that we should let people be.  If people want to wear abercrombie and fitch with skinny jeans and vans, GO FOR IT!  Don't be hateful to others.  You wouldn't want them making fun of you for who you are.  Be who you are and let others be who they are.  I think everyone needs to just chill out.'

19/12: 'umzz.. It kinda depends on how you do it. Some people can make it look cool but some people screw it up completely. there's this chick at my school who makes crunk core look pretty beastt lawlz xP I think people shouldn't get mad because people are thrying something new tho :)'

27/11: 'this is the first I've heard of it....although from wut ive heard i really think its just the same as scene and it kinda makes me think posers considering they consider it a new stereotype / style, wutever u wanna call it but i shudnt judge but its really just wut i think' - mikki

22/11: 'well, if they wanna dress that way, why not let them?? I mean, scene broke off from emo years back... why can't this one break off from scene?? really, I despise labels, and anyone that calls someone else a poseur just cuz they're mad. I think that everyone should dress how they want, y'now?? w/o being scared of being called a fake. A lot of you people say "dress how you feel" but when someone that fits the description of "prep" , or something like that, tries to wear gauges or BMTH t-shirts, yu go all psychotic on them :/ why can't yu listen to country but also listen to screamo?? we have enough people attacking scene && emo kids on urbandictionary.com and sites like that w/o doing it to others too! idk..i just wish people weren't so "stylist" :c (thats like racist exept furr clothes)' - kodiliciousbbys

17/11: 'I like crunkcore. It's a branch off of scene just like hardcore or glamxcore. I think crunkcore bands are cool, too. 3OH!3, Hollywood Undead, and brokeNCYDE? Yes please! ;)' - Beth Thrash

14/11: 'I think that ppl need  to stay in their own trends... if you're into black swoopy hair ok, stay. but if you're into baggy pants, weave, and jordan's STAY WITH IT! I myself am somewhat black, but you wouldn't be able to tell. And I am sad to say that EVERYONE at school is now ATTEMPTING  to dress this way.... sweety new boyz can pull it off, but you cant' so please stop trying ! XD' - merrelaXmelancholy!

13/11: 'I don't think that's a crunk core style... I dress like that and I hate anything to do with crunk core...' - Josi Francis

10/11: 'its cool if your not a posers tring to fit in but the worst than posers if your some one who made fun of emo/scene kids like get a life' - Fallon Cassidy

08/11: 'well, i think its just an extended version of scene.. i hate it. they're taking the scene look but making it more hip-hoppy. it bothers me >:(' - sydney freed

03/11: 'Ugh!!! I hate it!!! Its just those preppy hip-hop kids trying to get into our trend!!!! First cheerleaders and preps getting gauges, and now this!!! Posers!!!' - Lucy Cortez

04/11: 'well i think it's pretty stylish but a lot like the scene style sort of like and other version of it...? idk...' U2CuteBabe

How To Add Volume To Your Hair Without Teasing It?

Kiki Kannibal with big Scene hair

We love big hair, the more volume the better! But teasing is not the only way to add extra 'umph' to your hair! To make it really stand out, be big and proud, and stay that all day, we've prepared one small trick for you.

After you wash your hair, blow dry it on round brush! Take top layer on a brush, and blow dry your hair going from roots VERTICALLY to the ends. This way you'll lift your hair by the roots, and add extra volume without trasing it! When finished, simply spray with hairspray and you're ready to go! It takes much less time then teasing, and doesn't damage your hair at all - good luck!

14/11: 'If you don't want to go too extreme with scene hair, then just get the cut, or cut it yourself (layers @ the top, and thinner @ the bottom) and then instead of teasing it or drying it that way, you could use a bumpit. They are definitely at any of the girly stores at any mall, and they're even at wal-mart! If you don't want you're hair to look too messy in the back, then just use one! Some of them are small, and don't give a lot of volume, but there are also bigger ones, that can achieve the scene look.' - Audreius Brown

05/11: 'what i do is, after i get out if the shower, i mess with my hair a little

Tip of The Week: How To Get Perfect Line with Eyeliner?

How To get Perfect Line with Eyeliner?

If you want to apply your eyeliner in a perfect straight line there are a few things you can do.

  • The first is to apply it with your elbow on a table/countertop ect.
  • The second is to first put dots along your lash line and then you simply connect the dots going from the inside of your eye to
the corner and then wing it out(:

15/10: 'Hm, if you do regular pencil eyelinerrrrr, put it on the inside of your eye, close em, and move the pencil back and forth, make sure the tip is sharp, or else SPLINTERS SHALL HAPPEENN xD lets avoid that at all costs (: works wonders, lemme tell ya.' - jessica <3333

  • I normally use redish or blueish colours, but black will do of course : &&
  • Like some other people have said, for the clothes, get some really bright jeans, and a baggy or tight top, with a logo of a band/group. But remeber, MCR, or greenday or any of them, will just make you look like a poser.. :)

29/10: 'i love hot pink! so i normally do my top eyelid with liquid first, ofc add the outter and inner flicks. then bottom with pencil, making sure its all connected from corner to corner. then i usually put the pink on. on the eyelid, above the eyelid, sort of reaching half way between the crease and eyebrow. then on top of the flick. and then go over the liquid eyeliner with pencil. very deep and dramatic. show stopping eyes :) don't forget mascara. i usually use it side to side, i put about 3 coats on. and do bottom lashes, its wayy better. make sure their not clumpy either.' Tip of The Week - How to Apply Eyeliner?

Great tips for applying eyeliner

Eyeliner is very important for Scene Emo make up, it helps to define your eyes and create the look you're after: soft everyday or evening vampy  look. There are two types of eyeliner: liquid or pencil. Liquid eyeliners are ideal for creating thin perfect lines along your lashes, and require steady hand. Pencil eyeliners are more forgiving, great for beginners, and are really good for smudgy thicker lines. Choose the one you feel more comfortable with, if you prefer liquid eyeliners, pick waterproof one so it won't run during a day. If you opt for pencil liner, get soft one, so you can apply it (and re-apply during a day) easily. Maybelline makes great soft pencil eyeliners.

Few tips how to apply eyeliner:

  1. Rest your elbow on a hard surface, and rest your wrist on your face.
  2. Tilt your head back slightly and bring your eyes to a half-open state. This creates good angle for application, while allowing you to see what you're doing.
  3. Pull your upper eyelid gently with your finger to the side and slightly up. This stepis optional, as many people prefer applying eyeliner on relaxed eye. To prevent the eyelid from shaking if you do not pull it, focus gently but intently on your eyes in the mirror. If you are applying eyeliner to someone else's eyes, ask them to choose one spot on the wall to look at.
  4. Draw a line along the upper lid on the lash line. Start on the inside corner of your eye and make a thin line going to the outside of your eye. This creates the desired illusion of having thicker lashes.
  5. If you're using liquid liner, allow it to dry before opening your eyes all the way, or the color may transfer into the crease of your eye.
  6. Line the lower lids. Trace the outside of your eye (close to the lower lashes). NEVER put eyeliner on the inner rims because it gives you earlier, more dramatic wrinkles and can give you an eye infection especially if you use un-quality brands. Moving from the outside edge inward, draw a line lightly, but don't go for perfection, you can go back over the faint line and darken after the stroke. Your line should be slightly thicker at the outside corner, becoming thinner as it moves in toward your nose. Follow the shape of your eye! It looks more natural.
  7. Connect the lines from upper and lower eyelid in the outer corner of your eye by creating little wings. Now if you're feeling bold, make the line on your upper eyelid slightly thicker - if you make any mistake, you can correct it with cotton bud and bit of cleansing milk on it.

21/12: 'avon glimmersticks work well..i use a very thin layer of eyeliner on bottom lashline. pull your eye's corner to give yourself a firm working surface. use a thicker pencil on upper lashline' - June Briskete

29/08: 'If your eyes look like they're sloping down, try only putting eyeliner all along the bottom lash line :D works for me :P' - Poppet

Great Tip on Emo Make Up and Scene Hair!

29/08: 'i think you should

  1. take a black eyeliner and put it on really thick on your bottom eye lid
  2. then u should put it even thicker on your upper lid
  3. then u need 2 put on a whole bunch of mascarra - and don't listen to your parents when they say no, take it of lol : D - any ways
  4. make a poind like cat eyes and make it go really far out
  5. then surround everywere you put the eyeliner in exact lines like the cat eyes.
  6. Put black eyeshadow over it, and the make up is done!

Now you just need to do your hair the usual way, I can tell u how I do my hair, ok:

  • First I brush my hair completely
  • then take flat iron it and go over it as many times as needed to get it super flat :)
  • then I separate pieces of hair and tease it
  • then use hairspray - i use gottaB glued
  • once it's done, I put a bow in my hair (I like putting it by the side bangs)
  • then I kinda tweak it a bit and I'm done :)

Oh, and don't forget to wear tight jeans and any tight t-shirt prefferably, a t in
black with a name of a club or something u have never been 2 - ok well, I think im done here byyyyy' -

01/09: 'my favourite brand of eyeliner, is annebelle smoothliner, because it shows up super dark and it's easier to apply than pencil. i think i'm going to
try your eyeliner trick because sometimes i don't always get the result i want when using pencil.'
Miss Illussion

04/09: 'Use a sotf tip eyeliner and apply it to your top lid in a thick even line putting wings on at least the outside some like it on the inside as well then put another thick but even layer on your lower lashes make sure to get the corners so your wings meet your bottom lash line' - Ami Rayne

04/09: 'what i do for Liquid eyeliner since i dont have a very steady hand is i apply a bunch all ova my eyelid and then get a babywipe/tissue and wipe most of it off right down the lash line. ^_^ hope this helps' - Charlotte

04/09: 'When i put eyeliner on, i find it helps if you make sure your eyes are completely clean, because if you sleep with eyeliner on, you notice it gets thicker under your eyes. So once your eyes are clean, then i put my eyeliner on. Plus its easier to see what your doing . :)' - Emma = ]

04/09: 'Use pencil eyeliner, but sharpen the pencil so you can do thin lines. Try to put the liner as close to your eye as you can. Then play up your eyes by putting a contrasting eyeshadow on. If makeup isn't allowed at ur school then u can use big tricked out skool colored bows to look awezome! :]]'

15/09: 'stretch the top of your eye out to the side for to get the eyeliner on in a straight, even line at the top of your eye, this will make it look neat as long as you don't shake your hand and if you do the line all in one go.' - Kirstie Boyd

15/09: 'well, i do my eyeliner like this...

  1. i sharpen my coloured pencil (purple or blue usually) and i apply that really thick on the top and bottom..
  2. i sharpen my black pencil and then go over the colour slightly thinner though and go to a flick on the corner of my eye (usually pretty dramatic :D )
  3. i put a few coats of mascara on really slowly shaking the brush from side to side each time on the top and bottom..' - Sarah (:

20/09: 'I always use different types of eyeliner at the same time because it adds a more dramatic look...always use eyeliner on the top and bottom and never on the inner eyelid' - Ms Jazzy

How To Cut Your Own Scene Hair?

Cut Your Own Scene Hair!

Love Scene Hair but can't think of trusting anyone else wih cutting it just the way you want? Fancy Scene do but you want something unique, original and standing out? There's one thing you can do to get this look - cut your hair yourself! With bit of preparation and experience you'll get the hair cut you've always dreamed of! Here's few simple steps how to cut your own Scene Hair:

  • Start with freshly washed, damp hair. If your hair is dry, spritz with water until damp. Comb out.
  • Start with a plan - what do you want to do -- cut off two inches or drastically change your whole look?
  • If you want your Scene Hair similar to someone else's, have the picture with you to see exactly how to cut your hair and examine the progress.
  • Pull a small section of hair straight in your hand. Place your fingers where you would like to cut. Only cut about half an inch at the time.
  • After each snip stop and re-examine the progress. Let hair fall straight - is it even?
  • Cut one side and then the other, rather then alternating - that often leads to cutting off more than desired. Instead, cut one side to desired length, and then match on other side.
  • To create layers, cut section of your hair to different lengths, making each cut on a sharp angle. Create few small cuts vertically to the ends to blend the layers in.
  • Take a small razor and create layers from the mid length of your hair, going down to the ends. It will thin down the ends, blending the layers in and create beatiful shape to your hair.
  • Try to put as much hair to the front to cut, but if you must cut the back, go slowly, use two mirrors (facing each other) and examine progress after each cut.

Relax! It's just hair. No matter what you do it can be fixed in some way. If not, it will grow back! Go slowly and do not be nervous. Anxiety will increase your chance of making a mistake. If you find yourself continuing to try to even out sides, STOP! You will soon cut off more hair than you desired. Stop, take a deep breath, and reassess. Your hair does not have to be exactly even.

02/02: 'ok, so i cut my hair and it looked pretty good, but what kind of scirrors are you suppost to use, or does it not matter?' - courty golf

22/01: 'for a better layering damp your hair and pull straight to full length in the air and twist then take a razor and pull in desired areas to thin and layer.' - LilaLove

17/01: 'ive tryed cuttin my own hair the way i wanted it you just have to take it slow and be careful and try not to mess up so much but it's really easy!!' - marquiajohnson

12/01: 'it is right, but being a scene makes u unique, and different to everyone else as u don't follow trends u tend to make ur own one, most scene people like (moi) try to do things from scratch and see how it leads on. You don't just copy a style u have seen, it just makes u a wanna be scene. I would suggest going to the hairddressers personally, u don't have to have a picci to show'em but u could say, like layers and then while she does it tell her ways u want it to be cut and the lenghts, so if this is confusing x but i guess its ok to do it urself as well just could be hard doing the baddk !' - Maddi x

30/12: 'I reallly want scene hair, but I'm just afraid that I will look like a freak with it. I don't trust the salon much with my hair only because my moms a little old-school and normally tells the salonist what to do, behind my back. Plus, my hair is SUPER curly, all over. I straighten my hair sometimes, but I'm worried that if I do it straight everyday, I will "break" it, like one of my friends have done. Does anyone have tips on curly scene hair? For a beginner, plus, no dyes. Not ollt do I like my natural hair color (Dirty-blonde) but I wouldn't be allowed to dye my hair.' - Becca Smith

18/06: 'I have ott hair. Its so curly (frizzy) and stubborn nothing will help it. >:[.... But recently i have found an awesome hair style that looks unique. I tend to have my big curls tied in a side ponytail with a few curls hanging out on the other side and i straighten a side fringe over. It looks cool and is pretty simple and quick and im sure not many ppl hav my hair so it's unique!!!'

25/07: 'If you are cutting your own scene hair, start with wet hair and pull a big circle of hair on the top of your head (the amount that you want to be the really short layers) then twist it and razor it off (not an electric razor). This will give you creative, razory layers.  Then thin out the longer part into razored layers by pulling it tight and running the razor down it in the same motion as backcombing ^_^' JelJel

26/07: 'i cut my own hair all the time. i took half of it and layered that half, then left the rest long and and uncut so all i had to do was backcomb the top layers a bit and it looked scene. however, i then cut a fringe and cut my hair all the way up to my freakin EARS. to add to the look, i dyed it jet black. (i was a natrual blonde) worst mistake of my LIFE. so now i look like edward scissorhands on a good day. Gutted.' - Daina Hailey Renton

26/07: 'omg thanks!!
mwaah! I went to the hairdressers the other day with a pic to get my hair kinda like yours and well she did some random layers and it looks-- well not scene - just normal!! thanks my hair looks a lot better' - Just Faz

11/08: 'Hey!! thank u soooo much !! My hair looked bad after i went to salon so i cut it myself after i read that!!! My mom thinks i look wierd....PERFECT!! thanks again! xxxx' - Pixie

11/08: 'i try cutting my own bangs but can never do it right, how do you cut bangs??' - Jackie Wilds

14/08: 'never cut your hair for self destruction  i was the biggist mistake i ever made wiv my hair (tht includes dyeing it green)' - NeKro_angelus

17/08: 'Am not very much into the scene thing but I love the red hair color... What color exactly does she have' - Vanessa

21/08: 'I really am scared to do my own hair because i'm known to mess things up, so i want my aunt to do it (she styles hair). But i'm afraid that she'll mess it up, cause she wouldn' t dye my hair, and now i'm scared that she'll mess everything else up!' Kati Galloway

24/08: 'Don't do it it ruin's your hair tbh, cutting it i mean!!' - Molly Pipkins

Great Tip on How To Cut Your Own Scene Hair!

29/08: 'At first I totally didn't trust myself to cut my own hair, but when I never got round to visiting the hairdresser [mum never wanted me to cut my hair xD].. I decided to do them myself. There was no stopping me :) I can't say I read up anything online..I just took the scissors & cut away :S

Actually turned out pretty good, until I decided I wanted to cut my fringe [bangs for americans, i believe] some more..at which point it just kept going downhill.. I've decided I have to work more with styling, less with cutting..

It's quite easy, really, just as long as you don't cut huge chunks in one go.

  • I used a thinning razor and just cut like you back-comb [as suggested] except that I cut downwards, not upwards..
  • as for layering the back of my hair, I tied them up in a high ponytail and layered them like that.

Funnily enough it worked ^^ kind of had to rework the bottom of my hair after, but it was much easier after layering first with a high ponytail.. Now the only problem I still have is getting permission to dye my hair xD And the fact that I'm afraid it'll wreck my hair.. shall have to wait and see.. and hope :]' - Delyla Lenae

31/08: 'i like to experiment with my hair styles (even if its not a smart idea) so i just put my hair in a half pony tail, cut of the tip of the pony tail and style the rest my way, and you have razor cut hair with a twist!!' - Kelsey Drew

13/09: 'these things are wrong, just do what ever the fuck you want and call it your own, that's what scene really is!' - Ronnie Radke

14/09: 'when i go to the salon should i say layers in front and back or just where should they be or should i show them a picture and say i want my hair to be able to do this and show her a picture?' - Maxine Ricker

23/09: 'I think this is nt so great to cut your own hair as i dont know how to cut the back of my hair properly, I like the razor affect though.. and i found that s0ometimes it is easier to curl the top layer of you hair then back comb the curls as it it gives more poofyness :] X'ox'o' - Ian Pean

30/09: 'I cut my own hair all the time. I just can't seem to get the cut I want when going to a stylist, so I only go to them for trims. Its not that hard to cut your own hair, and it has always turned out alright for me. (: I hold the scissors upright, and never cut straght accross. It's helpful in making layers that don't look too choppy. Thanks for these tips! <3' - Amanda Hoenigke

27/10: 'i cut my hair all the time too, I only do side bangs and noting more other wise i'd get in major trouble, but i don't really care !!! I like my hair kinda short with bangs, and i don't dye my hair i just put up with my red/orange hair and just cut it and im DONE !!! but really it's not that bad having natural colored hair while still having the scene look and im pround to have my hair color just the way it is, but i do sometimes put in extentions though (: thanks for these tips <3 XD' - Julie Navarro

12/11: 'Okay so I used to cut my hair as soon as school was out EVERY Friday. Needless to say it was addicting. I dye it myself as well. Lol, I haven't cut it in a few months though just trim my top layers. Currently it's black with Fuchsia and Blue underneath my bangs. Honestly girlies, it's not the difficult : ) Give it a shot' - Sarah Arin : )

14/12: 'i also cut my own hair all the time. It's really easy and natural once you get the hang of it. At the moment I have a scene do, it's black with blue highlights. Did the dye myself too. Thanx for all the great tips guys. peace Xx' - sasha

Emo Hairstyle for Guys - What's Hot?

Mens Emo Hairstyle

There is plenty of tips for ladies how to create their Scene Hair, but we haven't forgot about you guys! To prove we still love you, here are some really good tips how to get and keep your hair in Emo style with minimum time and effort!

The really good thing about the boy Emo hairstyle is that it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to create one. This is very much a “do -it- yourself” hairstyle, as well as one you can get a professional stylist to do.

It’s all about personality and your preferences. Emo hairstyle should be crazy and all over the head. It’s also a hairstyle to have fun with.

Another great thing about boy Emo hairstyles is that

  • it can be created by anyone.
  • you can do it on your own, or have your best friend do it
  • you can choose to go to a salon that specializes in the Emo haircuts

The standard Emo cut is normally layered in many different lengths. A razor can be used on the back so that it will have a spiky look, with longer bangs in the front. An important part of the Emo haircut is to have some uneven strands framing your face.

Hot Emo Guy

Here's few simple steps how to style your Emo Hair:

  1. Add hair glue to the front bangs. This will make them stiff and straight, just the way that Emo bangs should look
  2. Gel can be added to the back of your hair, so that it will stand out straight. This works really well if you have the back of your hair shaved shorter.
  3. Having the back of your hair shaggy and long is even more versatile.

Have fun experimenting with different hairstyles to reflect your mood, go crazy and spikey if you feel more rebellious and enjoy!

The Most Embarassing Thing that Happened to You?

Summer Coolest Outfit

That's probably the Endless Story, if I focus more I'd write an essay about it, but life's not for remembering all nasty things that happened to you, after all ;)

Anyway, I was walking on the street in this beautiful sunny Sunday morning,
wearing the coolest outfit ever, when I was about to cross the street on Zebra Crossing. It was one of the 'On Demand' crossings, where the cars always stop. So the car stopped, and I, with cool gesture of 'cheers mate' went on to crossing the street, when suddenly my shoe just felt down from my feet, and I nearly tripped over!

I had to stop, grab my shoe, jump back to the pavement, let the cars go, and put the shoe back on, and then try to cross the street again! How very embarassing, luckily only one guy've seen it, he smiled at me, maybe I didn't look like a complete idiot, but I felt like one :/
