Audrey - How To Take Great Photos of Yourself?

Audrey Kitching, Jac Vanek, Kikki Kannibal, they all look absolutely fantastic, no doubt about it. Now, with status of celebrity, these beautiful Scene Queens are ones to look up to. But where did they all start? We know it could have been Buzznet, MySpace or Bebo pages, socialising, adding celebrity friends and posting fantastic photos. Yes, they all take loads of photos of themselves. Don't they look proffessional? Yes, but this can be done at home too! Here we will give you few helpfull tips how to take great photos of yourself.

First of all, choose funky looking clothes, with strong colours and / or bold designs. The best design on offer at the moment is also one of Scene Queen's favourites - Pink Animal Print - Pink Leopard Hoodie or Pink Zebra Jacket. These Jackets are very flattering, look great on pictures and you can't get more Scene than that :)

Next, make-up, always put heavier make-up for photoshoots than you do everyday, as photos tend to blur the objects, and you want to bring out your eyes and flawless complexion, right? On great tips, how to do Scene Emo Make-Up, please see our guide - How To Do Emo Make-Up.

Now, the most important task, choose where to take your photos! The best light would be outdoors on a sunny day, ideally in the park, or local playground. If you prefer to take photos at home, choose a piece of white wall as a background. And try to avoid sockets and other wiring to get into your frame :)

Now strike a pose and find the one that suits you best. Use digital camera, to know instantly how the photo looks like, and what to improve in your pose, how to put your head, arm etc. Look at Audrey and Jac's photos, how do they pose, smile, and remember, you'll get better with time :)

How To Wear Zebra and Leopard Skinny Jeans

You love Zebra and Leopard printed Skinny Jeans, right? Yes, well, so do we. They look great, and they make a great impact. I mean, you can't just not notice this kind of jeans! They look gorgeous, and that's true. But how to wear them to make the most of this amazing design?

The best way is to wear them with plain top, and plain shoes. Ideally black or grey. You could get away with red or purple as well, but only with White Zebra jeans, it would look actually very Scene Queen! Don't experiment too much with Red Leopard Jeans, we beg! Wear them with plain black or white tee or hoodie, and plain shoes. If you go somewhere special (like a gig, or a show) you can wear them with black corset, and red accessories, it would look uber-cool, just don't over-do it, as you may be seen as goth.

Remember, do compliment these jeans, try to show them off. Avoid printed vans or other shoes, whey will just spoil the effect, go for simple things, like black flats, or vans, or some black boots.

Now accessories: the best way to compliment these skinny jeans is to wear matching accessories, like animal scarf, or bandana on your head, or some animal print bangles. Try to match the hair accessories with these jeans, they will go very well.

Have fun, and if you're not sure of some combination, ask your mates, what do they think, if this or that look works. Good luck :)

How to create a classic School Outfit?

BACK TO GUIDES

School is back, yes we know, it's killer time for fashion imagination. Goodbye wild hair and make-up, it's time to face reality :) Does the School Fashion Rules really has to strangle you all the way? We dare to think not! We thought this classic number should do the trick and work as a perfect School Outfit - still holding Scene Emo attitude, mind you :)

Ok, that's really nice and eye-catching combination of Black and White Stripe Ladies Tee, Black Skinnies and Accessories. You can change this outfit by adding belt / scarf / jewellery. It's quite flattering combination and you can also replace Kelly Green Chess Hoodie by pure Scene Queen Indulgence - Pink Leopard Print Hoodie!

This look is hottt...

How To Survive a Gig?

BACK TO GUIDES

If you’ve been to a gig before, you know it can be wild place and quite impossible to control. So how to prepare for a concert, what to wear to survive? Keyword is: ‘comfortable’. Put comfortable shoes, not your best pair, but one that could be trodden by the crowd, you’ll be surprised by the state of your shoes after the concert! Well you’ll still need them for your way back, so leave your pumps at home and put some old sneakers instead. Fashion can wait one more day :)
Now, the jeans, ideally black or grey, as you might sit on the ground, be spilled with a beer and other disasters, and you don’t want to show the world story of the night, do ya? Ok, so that’s sorted, but what about the top? Well, that’s a tricky number. Have at least two tops with you, one underneath, sleeveless for dancing when it’s really hot and crowdie, and a Hoodie to wear on your way back. But don’t take your favourite Hoodie with you, you’ll need some old number, one which can be left on the ground, or under the bench, ideally dark coloured, or with some strong pattern.
Ok, so the wardrobe’s sorted. What about other things to have? You might need some secure place to put money in, so ideally in your pockets, have some room for tissues, bus pass, mobile, lipstick or eye-liner, you never know if you’ll need some make-up corrections! And there’s no point of taking backpack with you, it can be easily robbed in these kind of places, even if you leave it in cloakroom.
After all, you go there to have fun with your mates, and not to worry about the state of your clothes, or your bag!

How To Look and Act Like Audrey Kitching?

BACK TO GUIDES

If You want to look and act like Audrey Kitching...it's going to be some hard work. The following article will tell you exactly HOW to do it, successfully.

Steps

  1. Get the attitude. You must have the attitude of a model. Basically, it's all about you 24/7, but try not to be a brat, like Kiki Kannibal, for example. Do your thing and don't listen to what other people say. Be sure to support Peta2 just like Audrey, but don't be a poser about it- really get the facts. And do not smoke. Audrey Kitching doesn't smoke; it's unattractive.
  2. Get her look.

-First is the hair. You should have pink hair as your base color. Change it up sometimes though, for some weeks you can have a black under layer, then the next time, switch it to white tips. Make sure your hair is long in length, it can be naturally long or it can be extensions, like Audrey. Make sure to have light layers. And be sure your hair is big in volume. For a quick color fix, be sure to have different colored clip-in extensions handy: high quality ones, not ones that look like part of some wig. Be sure to have it wavy/curled most of the time, but for special occasions, have it straight or super super curly. Occasionally wear it up in some sort of style, but most of the time let it stay loose and flowy. Side bangs are good. Do it the Audrey Kitching Way..

-For make up: Wear black eyeliner, black mascara, pink blush, clear lip gloss, and if neccessary, cover-up. MAC and Nars are good choices of makeup. For special occasions, wear a red or pink lipstick and a lot of blush.

  1. Get her clothing. When it comes to clothes, Audrey wears many things. For tops, she wears old shredded band tees, baby-doll tops, floral blouses, Hello Kitty tees, etc. For bottoms it's usually skinny jeans. Mainly black, but sometimes different colours, like red or maybe pink- sometimes gold. She also wears many tights in crazy colors and patterns, from metallics to leopard print. Go crazy and mix it up, just like her. For shoes, Audrey tends to wear heels, in all different colors and shapes. And be sure that when it comes to jewellery, over accessorize.
  2. Get a Sidekick phone. Be sure it has a bunch of charms. Hardly ever talk on it, mainly text and take pictures.
  3. Get a Buzznet and a Myspace. For photos, make sure to get them professionally taken, just like a model. Post a bunch of blogs on both and be sure to be active daily. You must have 200,000+ friends. If you want to be like Audrey, you need a bunch of internet friends.
  4. Get involved. Be sure to do as much as possible in order to meet a celeb and become friends. Go to every concert and party possible and always stay busy.

Tips

  • DON'T BE A POSER!! Don't call yourself "scene" or a "scene queen". Audrey said in an interview once, she doesn't really think of herself as a scene queen and so did Hanna Beth(Audrey and Hanna Beth aren't friends anymore and she was never friends with Raquel Reed and Jeffree Star)!

Things You'll Need

  • Pink hair dye.
  • A good hairstylist.
  • Long hair/extensions
  • A straightening iron and curling iron and hot rollers.
  • High quality colourful clip-in extensions.
  • A wide variety of tee shirts and blouses.
  • Skinny jeans, tights, and some skirts.
  • High heels, boots, pumps, stilettos, etc.
  • A TON of jewellery, rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, etc.
  • Myspace and Buzznet (Stickam is good too) .
  • Some celebrity friends.
  • A photographer to take your photos.

How To Find Your Own Style?

BACK TO GUIDES

We all love dressing up, trying new things, creating new outfits. But how to choose something truly unique, something you can create and wear it in your own style?

First you need to know what kind of tops / jeans / shoes suits you best. There's no point in following strict trends, if the style doesn't suit you and you can be seen as a 'poser'. You must have at least one favourite item - eg. jeans, hoodie or a scarf. Ask your mates if this item suits you, you want to compliment your features - like great hair, beutiful skin or flat tummy. You want to dress like your mates, but find your own style and still look good, right?

Try to wear items that you know will look best on you, eg. if you have shorter legs, wear longer jeans and short tops; if your upper body is bit bigger then the bottom, try different colour combinations - darker top and brighter jeans. Always ask your friends what do they think of your current outfit etc.

Now, when you know what kind of items you're after, it's time to express your personality with a colour! Wear clothes that make you feel natural wearing them - don't make the clothes wear you!

There's loads of different combinations - if you like stronger colours - try Black and Green Chess Punk Emo Hooded Jacket , Pink Zebra Stripe Punk Emo Hooded Top or Comic Print Retro T shirt ! But remember, such a colourful tops need plain colour bottoms - try purple or black jeans, leggins, tutu etc.

If you prefer something more easy on the eye, try Striped T shirts - Black and White Stripe Ladies T shirt, Black and Red Stripe Men's T shirt, or Hoodies: Star Print Ladies Hooded Jacket, Newspaper All Over Print Men's Hoodie.

Now Accessories - this is what the outfit is made of - just be carefull with different patterns and designs. If your top is colourful choose plain hat: Black Cotton Trilby or Grey Striped Trilby. If you want to wear some funky Urban Beannies: Red Chess Beannie, White Chess Beannie, put plain top and match the hat with the colour of your jeans / skirt.

You'll find your own style and look unique if you match the clothes you wear with your personality and choose things you'll feel natural in!

How to Be a Scene Queen

BACK TO LINKS AND GUIDES

Audrey Kitching, Jac Vanek, HannaBeth, Zui Suicide, Katie Babyfayce, Ezi Xtacy and Avista Amuyan, Kiki Kannibal, Mirandaa Massacre. Just a few of the million scene queens and scene queen wannabes in this universe. You've seen their pictures, and now you have finally read their Buzznets. And in this moment, you have to learn how to actually be like them. The right way. And what is a scene queen exactly? Its a girl who expresses her feelings through art and pictures. With their crazy hair and their many closets filled with funky clothing. Do you have what it takes to be a scene queen? Then see if you followed these steps correctly.

Steps

  • Scene queens are always confident. If you don't have that kind of attitude, then who are you? No matter where they are, scene queens think that they are the center of attention. Its all about them, all the time.
  • Get a MySpace! Scene queens are internet royalty. Constantly update on your life to keep people interested. Blog daily, be active, take pictures, etc. So that means accept any friend request you get. Post comments on popular MySpace pages, like Tom's or Jeffree Star's, or any page of a porn-star-in-the-making. This way, people will see you and some people will add you. Remember to post bulletins so your friends know what's up.
  • Understand how these people got famous. Audrey became famous because she dated Brendon Urie, Jac Vanek got famous by being a self proclaimed photagrapher, Hannabeth got some attention because she did some modeling and is Audrey's friend, Zui Suicide got famous by doing trashy life, Katie Babyfayce got famous for the millions of pictures she took of herself, Ezi Xtacy got famous for basically being rude and a black scene kid, Avista Amuyan got famous for being a canadian model, and Kiki Kannibal became famous because of the 'jewlerly' she 'makes'. The main thing that Scene Queens do is post a lot of pictures of themselves on the internet, that is how you get attention. If you can make something have pictures of youself taken with that item and try to sell it over the web. Try to get a modeling contract also.
  • Scene lingo is easy to catch on. Add extra letters to words and use words such as "lush" and things like that. Don't overdo it though, 99% people don't like horrible terrible spellers. You don't have to have perfect grammar, but at least put some effort into it.
  • Get professional pictures taken. Nobody wants to see a typical scene angle picture or just another scene girl. Remember, you are going to be a scene QUEEN. You want to look like a real model, and if you do good on the shoots, you might actually become one. Photoshop is your friend, but just remember photoshop doesn't work in real life, so be careful not to really overdue it. You can take some typical MySpace pictures when you're bored, but only on a sidekick and don't ever make them your default or anything.

  • Wear a lot of makeup. Scene queens are known for their perfect, detailed makeup, so be sure to be good at putting it on and wear a lot of it. Eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush, foundation, and lipstick are a must. Use brands such as MAC and Chanel. Put it on well and do it everyday.
  • Now that you have the face and personality, how about your hair? Scene queens are supposed to be different and unique, and they must stand out in a crowd. Don't just put brown and blonde streaks in it. Go wild! Dye your hair a bright color, such as purple or pink, then add tons of crazy extensions. Dye your hair a different color every month, and if you like the original dye job, then add some touch ups every month. To make your hair stand out even more, make sure you have a tiara holding your hair in place.
  • Clothes are essential. These clothing lines are just everything you need for the perfect photo. Online clothing stores are very popular and worn a ton by scene queens. Many scene queens shop at thrift stores too, then take the things they buy there and glamour them up and alter them to make them their own. They make their own style, they set the trends. They love taking shirts then cutting the sleeves and adding glitter and making it completely one of a kind. Its something you should do too.
  • Have an ideal phone you wanna show off. Phones to watch out for are the voyager, sidekick 3 or sidekick ID, the V or nV, and the iPhone. The sidekick is defiantly the most popular though. Use a jeweled skin and carry it around with you at all times. Always find someone to text, too. The more you're on your sidekick the more popular you tend to seem.

Tips

  • Take care of your skin, always be healthy.
  • Go to shows. Bring a date, and look fabulous. Make people jealous, and you have fulfilled the envious part in life.
  • Be your own photographer before going to famous ones. They always want a sample of your work, trust me. Make a cute portfolio about yourself.
  • Appearance is everything. Look like you ARE the creator of the whole world, but don't be a Kiki Kannibal and claim everything is yours.
  • Dont just claim you're "scene" just because you have the clothes. You are considered a wannabe if you tell people (aka anyone) that you are trying to be audrey, hanna, jac, andrea etc. (scene).
  • Practice editing your pictures with photoshop.

Warnings

  • You may get made fun of. Some people may call you a poser and you may get some hate mail. But if you really are truly a Scene Queen, this won't bother you at all!
  • Don't do anything bad to get attention.

Things You'll Need

  • Sunglasses

How to Do Emo Make Up

BACK TO ARTICLES AND GUIDES

If you want to get an emo styled look with your makeup, there is a specific way to put it on. Follow these steps and you will look emo in no time.

Steps

Follow the seperate steps for boys & girls.

Girls!

girls makeup

girls makeup
  1. Take your emo eyepaint or eyeliner and apply it carefully on the bottom of your eyes. Make sure you get close to the lash line. Start on the inside corner of your eye and make a thin line going to the outside of your eye.
  2. Apply your eyepaint/eyeliner in the same manner on top. Try for a rounded edge on the outside corner of your eye.
  3. Apply a healthy amount of eye shadow to your eyelids after the eyeliner has dried.
  4. You can create a shadow effect by applying a thin amount of a dark coloured eye shadow all around your eyes.
  5. Apply one coat of black mascara.
  6. If you want to, use foundation in a tone slightly lighter than your skin tone, or your own skin tone.
  7. Put a tiny bit of lipstick on. Blend it well into your lips and blot some off for a tinting affect.
  8. Don't overdo the makeup- you may look like a poser.

Quick note: If you have a very light skin complexion and maybe even darker eyes, you may want to use like a dark brown (close to black) and/ or a crimson color. This will not be to harsh on your skin tone!

  • apply colored eye liner under your black; use eyeliner on top lid too.

Boys

boys makeup

boys makeup
  1. Apply eyeliner or emo eyepaint. Get very close to your lash line. Look at pictures of guys wearing eyeliner; notice that they are not wearing a lot - just enough to show they have it on.
  2. Eyeshadow is not mandatory, but if you are going to wear it, make sure it's not a sparkly neon color.
  3. If you wish, use a lightening foundation.
  4. Lipstick is, again, optional. If you are going to wear it, make sure to wear a tiny amount. Rub most of it off so it tints your lips, and doesn't paint them.

For Both!

  • Should not be ringed around your eyes.
  • If you're going to try liquid liner, you might just want to skip to emo eye paint instead. If you don't have access to emo eye paint, try just using liquid liner instead.
  • Go easy on the eyeliner. Put enough on where people know you have it on, but don't look like a raccoon.
  • You can use the same process with kohl or an eye pencil instead of emo eyepaint or liquid liner.

Eyeshadow

  • Try consulting with a makeup artist before selecting a color.
  • Make sure your color goes well with your eyes.
  • You should try new colors like dark green or midnight blue.

Using Powder/ Foundation to Lighten Your Skin Tone

  • Your face doesn't have to be covered in powder.
  • Don't use a foundation four shades lighter then your skin tone. While pale skin is stereotypical, look healthy.
  • If you want lighter skin, try using foundation one shade lighter than your skin tone.

Lips

  • Lip color shouldn't be too dramatic.
  • Try smudging a little purple on your lips, not coating them in black or red.
  • Consider ditching lip colors and gloss all together in favor of chap stick.
  • Avoid lip gloss - shiny is not the way to go.

Tips

  • Apply makeup in a reasonably bright light.
  • Guys: The eye shadow doesn't work - you have to use face powders.
  • Look at other people's makeup to get ideas. Never use their makeup ideas as your finished product!
  • Guys: Ask a girl to help you if you can't manage on your own

Warnings

  • Don't over-do it.
  • Try to use a base/primer so your eyeliner doesn't leak.

Things You'll Need

  • Eye liner
  • Mascara
  • Powder
  • Black makeup
  • Eye shadow
  • Base/Primer

How to Be a Scene Girl

BACK TO ARTICLES AND GUIDES

The current article that you are looking at is not just about how to achieve the look of a genuine scene girl, but it also details steps on how to make everyone believe you are a real scene girl, from your personality to basic fashion.

Steps

  1.

    Be random!
Know what you're expected to be. The genuine scene girl is often described by society to be over-confident, very bold, and at times, 'random'. Although you could aim to be the cute, shy scene girl and be really nice to everyone you meet.
  2. Get a MySpace, as just about every scene girl has an account. Create a 'scene' page with a whole bunch of pictures of yourself in MySpace poses. Add lots of other scene girls (or guys), and popular scene icons such as HannaBeth, Audrey Kitching, Kiki Kannibal, Hillary Haywire, LexiLush and Jac Vanek.
  3.

    Dress the part.
Dress like a scene girl. Clothes are very important, and you must dress the part in order to be successful in this venture.

    • Converse are cool.

      Converse are cool.
Wear flats like ballet shoes and even metallic/designer flats. Tutu like skirts are a must. Also, colorful BAPE and Nike shoes are getting popular. Slip-on vans are huge. Consider these Converse!
    • Wear really tight hardcore band tees, and skinny jeans; shirts with a metallic sheen, leopard print, polka dots, or stripes are also highly acceptable.
    • Cartoon characters are very popular. Real scene girls dress in Hello Kitty, Gloomy Bear, Pokémon, Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, Invader Zim, Batman, Superman, Skelanimals, Tinkerbell and any other cartoon gears they can think of.
    • Pyramid stud belts, and classic white belts are good.
    • Huge sunglasses are a must, and the bigger the better. The newest edition to the scene girls sunnies are the old fashioned "cop" style sunnies.
    • Over-sized pearl necklaces or other long necklaces are a must. There are a number of ways you can wear them that will make you look like a mature young person.
  4. Consider getting pierced, as piercings are very popular among the scene kids.
  5. Wear bright eye makeup. Pink, purple, blue, green, and red would do just fine. Remember to use thick, black/silver/blue eyeliner. The makeup can be plain black, depending on how scene you would like to be.
  6. The ponytail

    The ponytail
The most important thing you should do with your hair is part it to the side, with bangs sweeping in front of your face instead.
    • Short, choppy layers are very scene.
    • The scene mullet is popular, and is seen sported primarily by Asian scene girls.
    • Slightly long hair with ultra layers and choppiness right at the ear, below the ear slightly, or above the ear is considered extreme scene.
  7. Color your hair. Dye it black and put a few chunks of platinum blond in it. Extreme colors have gradually become more popular so don't be afraid to try a risky move.
  8. Enjoy the music.

    Enjoy the music.
Listen to hardcore music, and go to shows.

Tips

  • Wear as much fake vintage stuff as you can find and heaps of mass produced plastic necklaces.
  • Don't let anyone call you emo, because that is a music genre, scene is the fashion.
  • Scene kids are known to be random.. dont over do it... no one wants to talk to someone who screams "purple hippos!" every ten seconds.
  • Dont hang out with your scene friends and tell them how pretty they are and how you wished you looked like them..no one likes a kiss ass and they'll think you just telling them that because your fishing for compliments.
  • Avoid posers at all costs. They will bring down your image.
  • Frequently go to shows with friends to see local bands. Only the uninitiated refer to events with music as concerts.
  • Follow the trends and don't fall behind.
  • MySpace can make or break you. Get an original layout: pre-made ones are marginally scene, try to learn basic CSS or search MyGen on Google and make your own original layout. Bulletin trains are an option for those who want many MySpace friends, and themed trains are very scene.
    • The stereotypical modern scene MySpace name usually involves your first name, a second name involving fashion, gore, or music (kayleigh collision, courdactle, kiki kannibal, Trashley for example), some sort of symbol, and brackets full of letters representing the many crews and exclusive MySpace groups that you are part of.
  • While MySpace is a staple of the scene, open up to other websites such as FaceBook, Last.fm, Vampirefreaks.com and Xanga.
  • Kiki Kannibal, Audrey Kitching and other "popular" people on myspace (ex: Hillary Haywire, Dakota Rose, & Kayleigh Collision) are the best examples but don't EXACTLY copy what they have, use bits and pieces to make your own.
  • In the scene, calling each other insults is considered a compliment. So if your new-found scene friend sais "Luv ya,betch", thank them.
  • Wear little bows in your hair. not like, 80's big, and not microscopic small. the little clippi plastic ones are the sex!
  • Scene hair mostly is choppy, or has a fringe

Warnings

  • You may be called goth, but correct them, because YOU'RE NOT. People who mistake scene for goth are ignorant, be sure to tell them that.
  • Also don't care for what others think. It's who you want to be, not who they want you to be
  • You may be mistaken for emo by critics. Be sure to correct them, because emo and scene are very different.
  • Dying coon stripes into your hair is a very risky move, as there is always the chance that you will be reported to Kiki Kannibal. You could just have coon tail extensions if you have long enough hair, though.
  • Do not take MySpace pictures where you look emo or goth.
  • Do not call yourself scene; if you do, people will call you a poser.
  • Remember: do not change all of a sudden, make your changes gradual, or you will be called a poser, or a "scene wannabe".
  • Although scene lingo is important to use, don't go overboard in real life. Your non-scene friends might not understand "That guy is the SEX!!! He's just so hardxcore and RADD!!!
  • if you DO lose friends during your change remember this: if they cant accept you for who you want to be, then they aren't your real friends.
  • if you suffer from depression, being a scene girl is NOT for you.

Things You'll Need

  • Money
  • Hairspray
  • Hair dye
  • A MySpace / Facebook
  • Hair extensions with clip on/off system
  • A mall near you
  • Black/Silver/Gold eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • Zebra print everything; shoes, necklaces, etc.
  • straightner
  • Leopard print
  • vintage style

The emo subculture is extremely cool, it's only natural that you're trying to get the look. Everyone knows a true emo's strength and status is in their hair. This article will give you the basics and norms of emo hair.

Steps

  1. Grow your hair out; the front and side parts so they cover a good portion of your face. Some people grow out the back. If it's short in the back, you can spike it up with gel, but this looks tacky if it gets too long.
  2. Layer your hair. Get long layers about half way down your hair, and short the rest of the way up. (If you're a guy don't worry about layering your hair, unless you want to.)
  3. Straighten your hair, with either an iron or gel. If your hair is wavy, just use hairspray/gel to weigh it down. Or, you can use what are known as 'emo weights.' Not being the actual name, these clips come in difference sizes and different types for different purposes, but actual go under a layer of your hair to weight it down. New types exist that do things such as hold it up, or spiral it.
  4. Dye your hair black and maybe add some red or blonde streaks.
  5. Flip your hair upside down and blow-dry it. It doesn't matter if it is dry already, the heat just accentuates the layers in your hair.
  6. Accessorize your hair, once you're happy with the color and style. Bows are always your best choice, along with other funky hair clips. Don't forget the eyeliner! Girls can never have too much. If you're a guy, go moderate on the eyeliner and forget accessories.
  7. Leave your hair just everywere like it is in the morning. Mostly works great! If you have short emoish hair you may want to spike it or just mess with it after your morning shower.

Tips

  • Try leaving your hair down, as poker-straight hair is best worn loose.
  • If you're getting a hair dye from a barbershop or hair salon, make sure its permanent. If you're doing the coloring yourself, use drugstore dye; make sure that it is permanent if you've got lighter hair.
  • Put random clips in your hair, especially barrettes.
  • Straighten your hair, though some emos can have curly hair even if it looks weird. If you have curly hair, you can straighten just the front.
  • Straighten your hair in small sections, especially if you have thick hair. Don't sweep the straightener through your hair. Slowly straightening your hair will make it more pin-straight.
  • Claire's have some of the cheapest hair accessories, but if you're in a pinch, your local store can offer you some very nice things. Check on eBay as well. Just type "emo hair" into the search.
  • Every now and then get your hair thinned out, it helps. A LOT.

Warnings

  • Don't give into the social pressure to change. Just be yourself. Come up with your own self-image. Don't care what other people think, if you just tag along with other emos and do what they do, and dress like them, people will think of you as a poser, but just ignore them. Still, their problem. They dont have to be around you. If they don't want to hang out with your own friends, if they accept you then they are your real friends. If you really want emo hair then go to hot topic and get hair gel or even a straightener

How to Make Any Outfit Look Emo

BACK TO LINKS AND GUIDES

Make any outfit look EMO without having to revamp your entire wardrobe!

Steps

JEWELLERY

  1. Chains are great (but a little more Goth than Emo).
  2. Dark sweatbands with a small, random insignia on them are great.
  3. Spikes are okay as well (but again, more Goth).
  4. If you're a girl, wearing different types of earrings is fun.
  5. Again, if you're a girl, little girl clips in the hair is always a yes.

CLOTHES

  1. Keep it simple. Layering is great for guys and girls.
  2. Wear a random, plain t-shirt with black pants.
  • Tight, dark skinny jeans and a tight, striped button-up shirt.
  • Light blue and white diagonal stripes seems very popular while still looking good.

HAIR

  1. Boys should get that fliped, greasy black emo hair.
  • A Northern Pull or a fauxhawk is also good.
  • White blonde with black streaks is coming back too.
  1. Girls can get that cut or simply dye their hair black and blonde
  • Extensions are also very in. Blend them well, with lots of layers. You can add bright colored extensions too.
  • Teasing is great to add volume.

MAKE-UP

  1. Guys look good in black eyeshadow. Girls, wear black with bright colors like bright green, hot pink, or bright purple.
  2. Go for lots of SIMPLE eye makeup, and very little other makeup. black eyeliner would help too! Some people also do bright pink/red blush under the eyes. Be careful! It may look a little "druggish". So apply it close to your lashline.

OTHER

  1. Try to find some emo glasses at a glasses shop. If you don't need glasses, you can have them pop out the prescription lenses and stick in tinted or clear ones. Big sunglasses are also in. The bigger the better.

Tips

  • Be creative with your style. The more unique you are, the less people can stereo-type you. Uniqueness is the complete opposite from posing.

How to Look Emo

BACK TO LINKS AND GUIDES

So you want to look emo? You have an interest in the music, the fashion, or the lifestyle? But you have no idea what 'emo' is? That doesn't matter! Here is how to attain that perfectly emo appearance, and maybe make it a little unique for once

Steps

Hair

  • Hair is a big part of the "emo" look of course. There are many emo-looking hair styles to choose from. Contrary to popular belief, not every emo has short, black, choppy hair (although this screams emo). Some of your abundant style choices include:

  • For girls - Long-ish hair, with abundant layers and even bangs, possibly chunks of bleached-blond sections and other colors, or dyed black.
  • A classic short bob, with or without bangs, black, dark brown, or platinum blond.
  • Pink/black layered hair for girls is becoming popular. The top layer is usually cut pretty short and is made to stick out, spiked in a sense. You can even tease your hair.
  • Boys or girls - The classic black and short hair is better worn with long side-swept fringe(bangs)that can cover one eye. It especially looks good when the back is teased up with hair gel.
  • Think outside the box. Emo has its roots in the punk scene, and isn't just limited to black. Hair can be dark brown, black, blond, or any color you want -- as long as the cut is expressive of a punk rock culture and has a little a-la-emo flare. Wear super girly hair barrettes, bandannas, ribbons. It's up to you!
  • Add random barrettes and bows to your hair.

Makeup

  • Do not go too extreme on the makeup; you might be considered a poser.
  • Applying lots and lots of eyeliner is an emo thing. All over the eyelids, under the eyes a little too. This is not a good look for adults, and less eyeliner should be applied when at school or work, or where 'scene' kids won't be abundant. Avoid looking like someone punched you.
  • The emo look usually includes being as pale as your natural skin tone will allow, so get a whitening foundation of a super light powder. This isn't extremely important so don't go overboard with this.
  • Dark nail polish for girls is recommended. Black is normal but other colors such as dark green, dark purple, or even black and white stripes could work.

Clothes

  • Clothes make a huge statement.
  • Black/Navy skinny jeans or opt for boot cuts.
  • Dresses and skirts can be worn by girls if properly paired with converse and leg warmers.
  • A dark coloured zip-hoodie is a classic must have.
  • Vintage-looking printed tees with random things like robots, dinosaurs, or any random icon that makes people think 'What in the world could that be about? Originality, or at least the illusion of originality, is the key.
  •

    Converses
Shoes can be Converse, Vans, or any random shoe that is either plaid or just looks emo. The best option, although very common within every group nowadays, are Converse low tops or high tops, in black. Remember, if you buy converses, make sure they say made in USA on them, or else they were probably made in a sweatshop (All you emo's probably don't care, but stay true to your punk roots). You can get sweatshop-free converse look alikes online.
  • Band Tees are a must have. It doesn't matter where you bought it from. Just scope out 'emo' bands, like Dashboard Confessional, Fio Twakey, Lungfish the Promise Ring, Braid, Cap'n Jazz, Thursday, Fall Out Boy, Hot Water Music, Atreyu, Panic! At The Disco, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, Green Day, Cute Is What We Aim For, AFI. Be aware that not all bands listed are considered "emo" by everyone. If you're more into punk or 'emotive hardcore' you can also try listening to bands that no longer make records (i.e. Texas is the Reason).
  • If you are shopping for hoodies, one really in emo thing seems to be "Invader Zim" merchandise. Try to get a dark coloured Invader Zim hoody. These can be found 9/10 times at Hot Topic.

 Tips

  • People think that emos have to wear black. There are other colors to wear. The brand fu
