Becoming Scene is not an over-night process, and it can take 2 - 3 years to finally find your own style, clothes you feel comfortable in, perfect Scene hair, accessories etc. It takes time, and it's always better to achieve the look by the way of small steps - you don't want to suddenly change the way you dress and people you hang out with - that's nearly guaranteed way to be called a poser...
Start with accessories - hair accessories (bows, head bands, clip ons etc) and neon jewelry - if you're not convinced by jumbo jewellery at this stage, go for Lightning Bolt Necklace - it's slim, delicate and it goes with nearly every outfit
Now the hair - it's very important with the Scene look to have big statement hairstyle - go for side swept bangs, choppy top layers, and longer bottom layers. For tips how to style, tease and take care of your Scene Hair - see here.
Clothing - that's once again slow process on your way to becoming Scene - you can start with Skinny Jeans. Do we need to convince anyone Skinnies are as Scene as it gets? From classic Black to plain Red, Neon Green or Royal Blue. Or go for all time favorite Black and White Zebra Skinny Jeans - you cannot go wrong with pair of these gems in your new Scene wardrobe!
T-shirts - the more Neon, Hot Pink, bold designs the better! So totally hawt right now are NewBreed Girl Tees - it's clash of the Titans! From 3D Dino to Bored Hippo - it's like having your own personal monster - life doesn't get any better then this...
Guys love good design Tees and appreciate best quality materials, deep colors and original prints. There's no better selection of funky designs, original sets and awesome details as in Men's Tees and Hoodies.
LBC is here to prove it once more with 2010 Collection of Men's T-shirts. Soft to touch, made from 100% Cotton, dyed in flattering shadows of deep red, blue, purple and juicy green, they are programmed to keep your brain occupied and heart merry!
From ever so cheerful Popeye, ready to prove once more he's the baddest ass-kicker on the block, to amazing and popular Japanese Manga Monsters. These fearfull beasts look like they're after your heart and they're gonna steal it for good and for worse...
Let's not miss out on mighty Transformers, set on two shades of T-shirts: urban Purple and so hot Dark Red. Power becomes them, they are full of energy and unstoppable call to destruction... Will you fall under their powerful charms?
Brand new in Little Black Cherry and coming very soon are heroic Super Mario Bros - yes, we love nothing more than good slice of 90s from back in a day, and inspired by unstoppable Jedward we've also sinned by bringing you "Ice Ice Baby" Tee, uber cool and ever so catchy piece of fashion - all available online very soon!
How To Create Messy Hair When Blow Drying?
You love messy puffy hairstyle and want to get sexy hair in seconds? There's really quite easy way to do it - when blow drying your hair, try to crease your hair with other hand, and blow dry the creased bit. Do it gradually with all your hair until it's completely dry. Then simply spray with flexible hairspray or put some hair wax in it and you're done! This will create puffy messy hairstyle that will last!
Being Scene is often associated with getting piercing, although there is loads of Scene Kids who don't have any piercing at all. Is it neccessity? We think not. If you however seriously think of getting piercing, at least consider these few things:
Where are you planning on piercing? Earlobe? You might be ok. Ear cartilage? Not a good idea. Nose? Even less of a good idea. Lip? Worse idea. Eyebrow? Don't even go there. Nipple? Are you insane? Anything below the waist? Sterilize yourself now to prevent the stupidity from spreading.
Why People Pick On Others For How They Look and Dress?
Hi, i would like to know, why do people pick on others for being so called "scene"? I got picked on at first then I actually stayed home for ages. Then I got popular on bebo. And now well everyone says I'm pretty, my pictures are amazing. I look like a model ect.
And you know what some girls moan about they wana be thinner cause apparently that's scene to be thin... err no it's not. I'm thin im size 12 but im tallish i got flat stomac ect i durno if your americans or w.e but your mad to think being ultra thin is scene i just dont understand why people fuss so much:/
Give it time ur learn new things and some advise - don't backbrush your hair so it looks like a birdsnest. And don't use stupid false colourd extecions most of them look so fake and tacky.
Most famous scene kids dont dress in bright stuff anyway its more indie style thats "scene" now so no offence ;]
Where To Get Quality Clip-In Hair Extensions?
You love your hair to be big and look good all day long? It's always a challenge, specially if your natural hair always find their own different ways... Slightly annoying, but there's way to help it. Clip-in hair extensions are becoming more and more popular, and you can get them nearly everywhere. The most recommended ones are made by Sally's Beauty Supplies, the best (cheapest) way is to get ones without clips, and then simply sew the clips yourself. Make sure they are real hair, it's more natural, and they will blend in with your real hair, so noone will see the difference! You can also straighten, curl them and do whatever you wish to look fantabulous!
Got great tip of your own how to clip / style / take care of hair extensions? Share it here and read what others had to say!
Comments:
04/01: 'I got mine at sally's and i got mine without the clips but just sewed the clips on my hais blonde so i got black if i ever wants some in my hair =]' - Payton
02/01: 'I got my hair extensions from www.additionallengths.com and they are brilliant, cheap, real hair, and you can dye them. They're really great, and all you have to do is treat them like your normal hair. However, if you straighten them too much they get split ends and so forth so they need trimming like normal hair. Instructions come in the packet. If you have thick hair you might need two pairs, but I never really had that problem.' - Georgie Rose
26/11: 'Mine isn't a tip no offence. But when I was the extentions would I wash them like my own hair?'
16/11: 'I bleach my hair and then dye randomness of pink everywhere, but some people's parents wouldn't let them do that :/' - Sierra LuVonne
09/11: 'Make sure you wash them every few days. Like maybe once a week!' - Cameron
So what do you think of this fresh new trend - Crunk Core? I'm sure you've seen these Crunk Kids - they insist it's a brand new trend, although in my opinion it's been there since all Scene trend started, and evolved from there...
I talk neon color clothes, printed Hoodies, foil print Tees, Jumbo Diamond Jewelry and shutter shades. I talk BrokeNCYDE. Shutter shades, let's face it, are bit on a rotten side now, as they were popular for a very short time, and quickly the bubble burst, once you could get them for free as promo items. But Neon Color Clothes, clashing prints, designs and firing combinations? Yes, please...
So what do you make of the whole Crunk Core - new trend set to stay or something to forget? Leave a comment!
10/01: 'well I think that like we can't judge them if that's what they like let them wear it you can't call someone a poser for dressing how they love to and can express themselves in but u can if they're a scene hater wanna be ;P who were jerks about scene and not wanna be cool also it's not cool braning them like that and even if they are really poser scene hating lameRz who gives a care they'll never be able to pull it off as Beast as us let the posers pose but honestly what can we do about those mindless trend eating zombie followers as long as you know ur not one of them who gives a care they'll soon get bored and go prep again' - ~KiDxKaPoWwiE
07/01: 'uhmm ... i think u guys need ta be urselves , n this site is really stereotypical . i like the clothess but like ya gottta call 'em scene tshirts or scene jewwelry n emo gloves . so whatt ? i wear hollister t-shirts but tease my hairr n wear skinny jeans n flipflops , who caes ? hop off my case betchh . -_-' - marisaxmadness
26/12: 'BLECH! i understand that you need to express yourself...and they have a right to dress that way, but WHY! it is nothing but hiphop clothes! yes 30h!3 is a crunk core band i guess, but they make it look fashionable at least, im not one for sterotypes but we have to give it something a name, it looks just like Scene but for stupid men... but if they wanna look like cheap posers that's their problem, i hope this one dies out though' - ChibiCupCakeOfDoom
24/12: 'Well if it continues it'll just evolve more and become less scene anyway, why not let it?' - Ashii
22/12: 'Ok so there is nothing wrong with crunk core. So what if it came out of the scene style. Every trend is just a spin off of a previous trend, what makes this one anymore different? If anything people of the scene style should be proud to have influenced these ppl and this new look. This new look is complementing you guys not insulting you. Some of you guys sound like the same ppl that were judging you when u came out with the scene style.... The same closed-minded ppl.' - Brittany Barbie
22/12: 'oh deary me. i'm Crunk Core? This is exactly how i dress! i've been wearing bright colors and big bows since 4th grade. now it's sad that there's a stereotype for everything now.
i like the idea of Japanese street fashion, and that's kind of what it is. You have to remember, this was what was worn in the 80s and what is worn as Harajuku fashion in Japan. Maybe we're just stereotyping what's already been there? Who knows. All i know is that i learned something new today. I guess I'm classified
as Crunk Core..' - Glitter X Guts
20/12: 'I think that we should let people be. If people want to wear abercrombie and fitch with skinny jeans and vans, GO FOR IT! Don't be hateful to others. You wouldn't want them making fun of you for who you are. Be who you are and let others be who they are. I think everyone needs to just chill out.'
19/12: 'umzz.. It kinda depends on how you do it. Some people can make it look cool but some people screw it up completely. there's this chick at my school who makes crunk core look pretty beastt lawlz xP I think people shouldn't get mad because people are thrying something new tho :)'
27/11: 'this is the first I've heard of it....although from wut ive heard i really think its just the same as scene and it kinda makes me think posers considering they consider it a new stereotype / style, wutever u wanna call it but i shudnt judge but its really just wut i think' - mikki
22/11: 'well, if they wanna dress that way, why not let them?? I mean, scene broke off from emo years back... why can't this one break off from scene?? really, I despise labels, and anyone that calls someone else a poseur just cuz they're mad. I think that everyone should dress how they want, y'now?? w/o being scared of being called a fake. A lot of you people say "dress how you feel" but when someone that fits the description of "prep" , or something like that, tries to wear gauges or BMTH t-shirts, yu go all psychotic on them :/ why can't yu listen to country but also listen to screamo?? we have enough people attacking scene && emo kids on urbandictionary.com and sites like that w/o doing it to others too! idk..i just wish people weren't so "stylist" :c (thats like racist exept furr clothes)' - kodiliciousbbys
17/11: 'I like crunkcore. It's a branch off of scene just like hardcore or glamxcore. I think crunkcore bands are cool, too. 3OH!3, Hollywood Undead, and brokeNCYDE? Yes please! ;)' - Beth Thrash
14/11: 'I think that ppl need to stay in their own trends... if you're into black swoopy hair ok, stay. but if you're into baggy pants, weave, and jordan's STAY WITH IT! I myself am somewhat black, but you wouldn't be able to tell. And I am sad to say that EVERYONE at school is now ATTEMPTING to dress this way.... sweety new boyz can pull it off, but you cant' so please stop trying ! XD' - merrelaXmelancholy!
13/11: 'I don't think that's a crunk core style... I dress like that and I hate anything to do with crunk core...' - Josi Francis
10/11: 'its cool if your not a posers tring to fit in but the worst than posers if your some one who made fun of emo/scene kids like get a life' - Fallon Cassidy
08/11: 'well, i think its just an extended version of scene.. i hate it. they're taking the scene look but making it more hip-hoppy. it bothers me >:(' - sydney freed
03/11: 'Ugh!!! I hate it!!! Its just those preppy hip-hop kids trying to get into our trend!!!! First cheerleaders and preps getting gauges, and now this!!! Posers!!!' - Lucy Cortez
04/11: 'well i think it's pretty stylish but a lot like the scene style sort of like and other version of it...? idk...' U2CuteBabe
Eyeliner is very important for Scene Emo make up, it helps to define your eyes and create the look you're after: soft everyday or evening vampy look. There are two types of eyeliner: liquid or pencil. Liquid eyeliners are ideal for creating thin perfect lines along your lashes, and require steady hand. Pencil eyeliners are more forgiving, great for beginners, and are really good for smudgy thicker lines. Choose the one you feel more comfortable with, if you prefer liquid eyeliners, pick waterproof one so it won't run during a day. If you opt for pencil liner, get soft one, so you can apply it (and re-apply during a day) easily. Miss Sporty makes great soft pencil eyeliners.
Rockabilly Chicks - they lok stunning, like little porcelain dolls, but with a deadly edge. I love this look, it's very flattering and girly. And it's all about curves! Welcome back curvy figures :) Rockabilly Chick loves super skinny jeans, red and black combinationas, quirky dresses, platform shoes and little funky extras in her hair. How can you possibly ressist that look? Think 40s working wonder women posters and you're in the subject.
First, the make-up: it's all about porcelain complexion, strong eye make-up and red dominant lips - Rockabilly Chick knows what she wants from her look!
Scene Hair - it's a piece of art, we have to say! Great, unique and it looks different every time. But how to create it, and most important - keep it? It's a bit time consuming, but with few tricks up your sleeve your hair will look Scene in no time :)
First - for your hair to look Scene, the top layers need to be chopped - you can do it yourself or ask at the hair salon for short choppy hair. You will need to tease them by the roots for the uplifted effect, and spray the teased part with a hairspray. Now the bottom layers will need to be longer, thinner, with colourfull streaks (very optional) and most important - they need to be as straight as your BF. To get this effect you can use the hair straightener (first spray your hair with heat-defence spray) and put some wax on the ends. Second option is to clip some hair extensions in, it gives you great choice of styles / colours / looks. I personally opt for the first option, as hair extensions can easily weaken your hair - so can't recommend it myself. But it's a great and fast fix for night out or special occassion.
Now you can put some bows / hair clips in your fringe, or just some cute hair band. Have fun and good luck :)
If you want to get an emo styled look with your makeup, there is a specific way to put it on. Follow these steps and you will look emo in no time.
Steps
Follow the seperate steps for boys & girls.
Girls Make-Up
Take your emo eyepaint or eyeliner and apply it carefully on the bottom of your eyes. Make sure you get close to the lash line. Start on the inside corner of your eye and make a thin line going to the outside of your eye.
Apply your eyepaint/eyeliner in the same manner on top. Try for a rounded edge on the outside corner of your eye.
Apply a healthy amount of eye shadow to your eyelids after the eyeliner has dried.
You can create a shadow effect by applying a thin amount of a dark coloured eye shadow all around your eyes.
Apply one coat of black mascara.
If you want to, use foundation in a tone slightly lighter than your skin tone, or your own skin tone.
Put a tiny bit of lipstick on. Blend it well into your lips and blot some off for a tinting affect.
Don't overdo the makeup- you may look like a poser.
Quick note: If you have a very light skin complexion and maybe even darker eyes, you may want to use like a dark brown (close to black) and/ or a crimson color. This will not be to harsh on your skin tone!
apply colored eye liner under your black; use eyeliner on top lid too.
Boys makeup
Apply eyeliner or emo eyepaint. Get very close to your lash line. Look at pictures of guys wearing eyeliner; notice that they are not wearing a lot - just enough to show they have it on.
Eyeshadow is not mandatory, but if you are going to wear it, make sure it's not a sparkly neon color.
If you wish, use a lightening foundation.
Lipstick is, again, optional. If you are going to wear it, make sure to wear a tiny amount. Rub most of it off so it tints your lips, and doesn't paint them.
For Both!
Should not be ringed around your eyes.
If you're going to try liquid liner, you might just want to skip to emo eye paint instead. If you don't have access to emo eye paint, try just using liquid liner instead.
Go easy on the eyeliner. Put enough on where people know you have it on, but don't look like a raccoon.
You can use the same process with kohl or an eye pencil instead of emo eyepaint or liquid liner.
Eyeshadow
Try consulting with a makeup artist before selecting a color.
Make sure your color goes well with your eyes.
You should try new colors like dark green or midnight blue.
Using Powder/ Foundation to Lighten Your Skin Tone
Your face doesn't have to be covered in powder.
Don't use a foundation four shades lighter then your skin tone. While pale skin is stereotypical, look healthy.
If you want lighter skin, try using foundation one shade lighter than your skin tone.
Lips
Lip color shouldn't be too dramatic.
Try smudging a little purple on your lips, not coating them in black or red.
Consider ditching lip colors and gloss all together in favor of chap stick.
Avoid lip gloss - shiny is not the way to go.
Tips
Apply makeup in a reasonably bright light.
Guys: The eye shadow doesn't work - you have to use face powders.
Look at other people's makeup to get ideas. Never use their makeup ideas as your finished product!
Guys: Ask a girl to help you if you can't manage on your own
Warnings
Don't over-do it.
Try to use a base/primer so your eyeliner doesn't leak.
Things You'll Need
Eye liner
Mascara
Powder
Black makeup
Eye shadow
Base/Primer
How To Do Emo Make-Up When You're Dark Skinned?
Most of the time you don't see dark skinned emo/scene kids. So, if your skin is dark, and you are emo/scene, you might like to know how to do your makeup correctly!
Put on a light foundation close to or the same color as your skin, although most scene kids prefer paler looking skin. The foundation color would be your preference.
Apply a grey, black, or a neon colored eyeshadow to your eyelid below the crease.
Know that every scene kid uses black eyeliner. It could be pencil eyeliner or liquid eyeliner. Apply eyeliner to your top and bottom lash lines. You can also put on a thin or heavy line of eyeliner on your eyelid right above where your eyelashes start. (This is not something you have to do! But if you do this step connect your lines to create cat eyes!)
Apply mascara to your to top and bottom lashes.
Put on chap stick or whatever lip product you want to use. Most scene kids have bright lips in vibrant shades of color, but emo kids have nude, pale lips. But you could choose which one you want.
Touch up if needed!
Go show yourself off!
Do not put on so much makeup that you look like a raccoon since while it is supposed to heavy, do not over do it.
Make sure you have cute accessories that match your makeup and your emo-tastic or scene-eriffic outfit.
Liquid eyeliner is the best because it is darker and wont blend in.
If you like the thick line of eyeliner try it before going out and realizing you look like a clown
Don't have preppy makeup one day and then emo/scene makeup the next day. You'll seem like a poser.
